While I would not be one to do something like that(the contours of the 4003S are just fine for me the way they are), I would think that Jetglo would be the easiest to finish after doing such a job, but I'm certainly no expert!jps wrote:Yes, he would, and have the bass refinished, as PW (and Brian Crisman) will attest to, it's not so easy to match an area of JG to the rest of the finish.squirebass wrote:Wait, won't you have to sand off some of the Jetglo loveliness in order to do that?Fred Mertz wrote:It's here! Arrived today. A beautiful Jetglo. I'll be making some changes however, before I gig with it. I'm waiting for JF344's to show up. I'll probably have my painter friend re-contour the body so its not so sharp on my forearm. If I don't change the contour I'll have to change my standing position in relationship to the body of the guitar against my body. I'm old! I don't like change!
I'll report back after installing the TI's.

If the color was anything other than Jetglo I wouldn't consider the reshaping. I'll be taking my bass to a friend who has painted a few guitar bodies for me. He has also done paint and body work on my '69 Camaro. His business is complete classic car restorations. Dave

Whoa, a '69 Camaro! It might violate RRF bylaws, but I'd like to see some pictures of that there '69 Camaro! Maybe you could pose your 4003S JG in front of it so there wouldn't be an issue....Fred Mertz wrote:If the color was anything other than Jetglo I wouldn't consider the reshaping. I dig that! I would love a 4003S with the body rounded all the way around. I much prefer rounded edges to sharp edges, even with binding (although I understand there isn't much room to round off the body at the back behind the bridge or at the bottom, near the pickguard, but hey, I can dream).Fred Mertz wrote:I'll probably have my painter friend re-contour the body so its not so sharp on my forearm.

Hmm, I'd hate to be a downer but blending into the UV cured finish may be problematic. I know **** about painting, but my brother has owned his own bodyshop and black is not very easy to match. In my experience, the UV coating is a strange animal. You would be better off modding a Mapleglo. Best of luck.
