'67 4005MG Lefty?

Post by fran4001 »

This may or may not even be for sale, but my pal in London came across it, and were both wondering if anyone knows the deal here. Stupid rare I suppose! http://www.fotolibra.com/gallery/693612 ... vance_desc

It's probably Peter Levitt's, if he still has it.

I like the upside-down "R" tailpiece to match the inlay and headstock :lol"

Gotta be Levitt's. Ian Martin is the photographer of this and a couple of shots of Levitt's basses in the book. I met Peter when he was in Chicago on his trip to buy this bass. Mustabeen back in '05 or so.

I echo the previous posts about this belonging to Pete. He once told me that he has one of only TWO Lefty 4005's.
The second one is in a museum in Japan---according to him.

IF this one IS his, I am VERY surprised that he parted with it.

Nice bass!!!!! Wonder what the price is..............

As far as I can tell from the provided link, it is only a photo in a photo album by Ian Martin. I don't see anything about it being for sale or sold. I can't imagine Peter parting with it.

AND a factory 4003S short-scale (also pictured in the book)! For a lefty, Peter is pretty lucky!

Robert Frost, 1874 - 1963

Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

You know I once came to a fork in the road,
On the right it said Poe,
On the left it said Frost,
I took the fork less traveled,
And that has made all the difference,
Quoth the Raven "Nevermore"
