I had a shot but it got too hot for me and I hadn't worked out how to sneak it past the CFO. Glad to see you got a good price for it. Bet you'll be sorry to see it go - it was a great example of a BG.

That bidding pattern seems typical now - minimal activity until the last 6 hours. Everyone's getting auction-savvy.
enough, already.

Congratulations Henny, you got a fair price for her. Anything under $2K would have been harsh. I was going to place a bid, on the condition if I won you could keep it until I get back in the summertime, but my needs for a 24 fret bass have taken priority...

Henny, if the high bidder bows out or flakes,(very unlikely) I've got the cash, let me know. Then she'll be going back to a different part of Cali.

Guess what, I've just had a spam "Ebay Second Chance Offer" on your bass Henny. Don't you just hate these guys? Did anyone else get one? This is what it said:

"Do not reply to this email . Contact the seller at this e-mail address : [email protected] *** You expressed interest in an item titled "Rickenbacker 4001 - 1972 - Burgundy" (Item 3774299285) by bidding, however the auction has ended with another member as the high bidder. In compliance with eBay policy, the seller of that item is making this Second Chance Offer to you at your bid price of GBP 801.00 . The seller has issued this Second Chance Offer because either the winning bidder was unable to complete the transaction. If you accept this offer, you will be able to exchange Feedback with the seller and will be eligible for eBay services associated with a transaction, such as fraud protection. To purchase this item, don't reply to this mail, just contact the seller at [email protected]. Thank you, eBay, Inc ***Do not reply to this email . Contact the seller at this e-mail address : [email protected] :"

Ebay policy, my ****.

Philip,
You should forward this to AOL's fraud and abuse department.

Oh drat. That's not very good now is it.

Since day one, I recieved a string of questions from zero feedback'ers saying:

"can you do ship to BRAZIL? i would like a base like this!!!! we do deal?"

and another...

"hi i am french i would to come to the Uk too buy item.. i pay cash, we meet LONDON"

I didn't give them the time of day, naturally. Just goes to show you what a complete and utter hovel eBay is turning out to be. Image

Make sure you set your email system to "View all headers" this way there's a better chance of doing the trace.

Have you seen what the new (effective Feb. 18) eBay final value selling rates are?!

For something selling for $25.01 - $1,000, the final value fees are jumping from 5.25% (first $25)/2.75% (remainder) to 8% (first $25)/5% (remainder)!

If you got something to sell on eBay, I'd do it before February 18...
