I see. That's no problem, I can be patient. I will adjust it as necessary, and if it takes a while, that is okay! The strings were so dead on this bass when I got it that I have the impression that the original owner bought the bass and had it sitting in a closet for 20 years.

That would be okay with me! I'd much rather have a strong neck that will take a long time to straighten than a weak neck that won't maintain it's position.

I have a 4001 that I've had for a long time and the neck is not real strong but it sounds great. I finally put some Elixir super light strings on it (40-95) and the neck is almost straight and the strings play and sound great. I normally don't like light gauge strings but they're really nice on this bass and don't feel or play mushy.
