Check out the link Jeff.

I also thought the 4001S had the dot fret markers.
Buy it before someone else does.

That BGlo is ironically the same exact color as mine. More of a "tomato glo" than burgundy. It looks really clean, but man that is WAY too much! You can dang near get a 4001v63 for that.

Unfortunately.

Classic Rics rule. I find it weird that people will pay so much for a mere reissue (v63). Must be the 'S' thing. Image

Actually... I'd love to see how much a D-v63, (Deluxe), would trade hands for soon after production ended. Probably even higher!

Especially if it were made with crushed MOP inlays.

Why is that 4001 with deluxe features called a 4001S? Am I missing something here?

I'm not sure that it is.

I thought that the 4002 was the Dee-lux version of the 4001, and the "S - Special" models were simpler, eg, no binding, and dot inlays.

The auction fron gcrep clearly says 4001S in the description, and that other link also lists that bass as a 4001S when clearly it is a 4001!

The 4001 at the Bassik site can't be a 1970 4001, let alone an S model

The Skunk stipe wasn't introduced to the 4001 until about 1972, and the S model had to wait till it was re-introduced in 79-80.
