Stolen 8-string
Hi guys - a local friend had his Fireglo 4008 or 4003s/8 (not sure which) stolen this week. It was sold to a pawn shop on Staten Island, then sold by them. They will not or cannot tell him who bought it from them. Please PM me if you see such a bass - he is fine with buying it back at this point.
One identifying factor of the bass I recall is that it has a two-piece pickguard, which must be a rarity among 8'ers. I'll post a photo when I get one.
Thanks!

I would think the cops could get the name of the buyer.... purchasing stolen goods and all.

I rememeber reading on another thread that pawn shops are liable for buying and selling stolen gear. If that is true, then your friend may have recourse against the pawn shop.

In most states, pawn shops are supposed to hold onto items for 30 days to make sure their not stolen before they can sell them. Did your friend file a police report when it was stolen?

That was quick!
Glad to hear he got it back.
Agree with Dane, most states require pawn shops to hold stuff for 30 days for this very reason!

Your friend got it back! This is excellent! How did you make it happen?

He didn't get it back, but it's been located at least (along with another bass that was simultaneously stolen). A keen-eyed forum member recalled a similar bass being sold on eBay last week, and it was indeed the one.superheavydeathmetal wrote:Your friend got it back! This is excellent!
