Three Monty Brown 360/12's

Post by grsnovi »

Wildwood Guitars has three new 360/12's in stock in Monty Brown in case anyone was looking. I just love this color!! I have no association with the shop, I was just making the weekly rounds - checking out inventory.

I love Monte Brown...I was all set to order a FG 660-12 and I saw a Monte Brown one on the web. The closeup of the body with the gold pickguards and brown, set off with the checked binding, overloaded my sense of reason. The next day it arrived. Yum.

Although I have been sorely tempted--twice--to make a MG 325C58 my second Rickenbacker, today I pulled the trigger and purchased a new MB 381V69 for my "main" Rickenbacker 6-string. Got it from Steve at Wildwood, thanks to the tip on the 360s from Gary (above).

I hoped that if Wildwood had three 360s, they just might have a 381 in MB, and they did. It arrives on Wednesday, vintage case and all. It's my first Rickenbacker 6 string ever, and I'm dying to compare the action and feel with that of my Gretsches...

It'll get a pair of gold pickguards and the same stove knob treatment as my 660-12 received. I really like that vintage Rickenbacker look!

Perhaps the 360/12MB I ordered in December 2003 will find its way to Canada soon. I don't really mind the wait, I just hope I get a nice one.

Paul - please post a review when you get your 381v69! I've been tempted to trade in my 330 for a new 381 recently...

Ethan:

You can be sure that I will...First impressions, too. The moment I opened the case of my 660-12 I will remember forever, and I expect this to be a rush, too.

Its picture is on Wildwood's website.

It's going to be an heirloom. My seven-year-old is a piano player. I wonder if this will get her interested in guitars?

Anyhow, I can hardly wait for Wednesday...

Wildwood also had a 381/12v69 in MB that I was drooling over. The 381/12 would have complemented my 370/12 and my 360/12v64 but how many RIC 12's does a guy need?

Enjoy your new guitar Paul!

Thanks, Gary! They still had the MB 381-12 this afternoon when I talked to Steve...(in case you were wondering...)

I have lusted after a hollow body 12 since I sold my old Framus 12 about 20 years ago...but I wanted a Rick 6 to complement the 12, and so I went for the 381. The color was a no-brainer for me.

I think next would be a TURQUOISE 330-12 (or even better) 381-12. And I guess this one will be used because by the time I'll be ready to buy, there won't be a new one left anywhere on Earth. Not that I'm hung up on new, BTW.
