what kind of bridge do you think this is?

Post by Sir Ricardo »

Greetings y'all -

Quite a while ago, I got a RIC 4001, and it came with this bridge. I took this bridge off, and put on a standard RIC bridge.

This one has been sitting in a box for quite a while, and I'm wondering what it is.

Any thoughts?

I don't know who made it, what model bass it might go on, when it was made, etc.

thx in advance -

Richard

That one is not ringing any bells, looks a refugee from the "Geddy put a Badass II on his Ric, so I'm doing mine too" era. I actually went out and bought a Badass for that purpose, thankfully never went through with it. That said, were I to replace a Ric bridge, I'd use a Hipshot. They are easier to adjust, will cover the old screw holes, and look pretty good IMO. Did you buy a bridge from Pick of the Rics, or Allparts? That looks like a decent quality bridge, toss it in the parts bin for some future project.

Parts bin that bridge and go with what fits directly, either original or Hipshot.

I am curious about that bridge. Some names come to mind, including Hagstrom, Guild and Ovation, but Google images don't find matches... yet.

Thanks for your speculation, guys. Just to clarify, the bass in question is long-gone, and has (had) a 'correct' RIC bridge on it at the time it left me.

My wondering now is simply about "what the heck is this thing?!"

thx - R

Does it seem to be high quality or kind of cheap? I could see it coming off of an Asian knockoff from 70's. It's hard to tell.

Feels very solid. High-quality.
