Mercy!
Looks like someone was extremely ****** at the owner and took it out on their 4003...

Damn, that would take a lot of work to restore... I'm guessing for the amount of restoration needed, you might as well just buy a new one.

thankfully "the back of the neck is perfect"…..that saves it! Ouch. Will go for way too much too. I bet $700+
Re: Mercy!
It never ceases to amaze me how instruments such as this can possibly acquire so much damage, apparently accidentally. There's a saying in England - if a bird shits on your windscreen, don't ever take her out again....

A few years back I had a problem with my car and didn't know how to fix it myself. When I went to pick it up from the garage the mechanic looked at me and said, sourly, "cr@p in the carburettor". "How often do I have to do that?", I asked...Ashgray wrote:It never ceases to amaze me how instruments such as this can possibly acquire so much damage, apparently accidentally. Re: Mercy!
If there is no other structural damage, this statement by the seller is actually pretty strong, and would help sway me if I were interested. Why be so quick to judge cosmetic wear? I like to look at this differently - look at the beating it took and still plays great! That's quite a testament to the durability of the instrument, and thus, the brand. Anyone seen Blues Brothers? The scene where they play "both" types of music?RickyBubba wrote:thankfully "the back of the neck is perfect"…..that saves it! Ouch. Will go for way too much too. I bet $700+

Re: Mercy!
My only concern is the wear on the fretboard; if any of the coating is cracked or if it affects playability, and if the frets are okay.
Other than that, this seems like a great opportunity for someone who would like a Rick with a custom finish. You could even go so far as to modify the body shape.
Honestly, I just wonder how the heck this happened. That doesn't look like normal playwear at all. Maybe the seller thought a beat up bass would look cool in a punk rock kind of way.

It's at $804 now, with a day left.RickyBubba wrote:Will go for way too much too. I bet $700+
