Going cheap right now. I paid $300 for one less than six months ago without the surround and it ended up being well worth it.

I'm on this one, working with Shaun to see if we can secure this one for him here, and then wing it's way to the UK ...

Thanks in advance Jim, you're an absolute star. And thanks for the thoughts guys. I am so desperate to get this to restore my CS; there's no chance of getting one in the UK and the US ones normally get bought up before I even see them. I'm willing to pay quite a bit of money for this...I just hope no-one else is even more desperate to get one than me! Although I'm not sure that's possible Image

Shaun,
I sent you an email, take look and get back to me, we can decide what your limit will be etc, I've paypal as well so we can use that approach, and since this one will be a "used replacement" it should help with imports etc.

Once again, thanks Jim. I owe you one, whether I get it or not.

All the best

It's up to $280 with over three days left. This may set a new record. Not worth it for me.

E bay is fast becoming a sellers market. Bargains are becoming scarce unless you luck out on a BIN. Item,s are being bid up to new highs nearly all the time and it will be intersting to see how high this goes.
Shaun has the plus of a strong pound to help finance and hopefully he,ll come through...Good luck mate...

Ebay prices are still lower than what you would find at most guitar shows. I always see worn 70's 4001's priced between $1300 and $1500 at shows. On Ebay, they sell for $700 to $800. Granted, the price on the tag might not be what the dealer will get but the difference is still interesting.

Even if I could get one of these new in the UK it'd still cost £200 or so ($400 approx), so I have that to work with. And Paul and Andrew, thanks for the wishes, they're much appreciated. I just want to see my CS as it should be, shoes and all (although the pickup Sergio built me for it is great; that may end up in my 72).

Ted, I just realised it appears I'm bidding against you; bummer! Now I feel really bad! I hope you have no objections??

Don't sweat it Shaun. Go for it if you want it. I have a definite limit in mind. As Jared said, all is fair on the 'bay.
