Rickenbacker 4003 2015 Mapleglo

Just purchased my latest Ric a very nice Mapleglo 2015, not a finish i would usually go for as Jetglo Rocks !!!! but i had a good vibe about this one, purchased from Nick's guitars in the UK.
kind of hard to see in the pics but the body is covered in little flecks of birds eye maple back and front a lovely piece of maple, sound wise it is outstanding probably one of the best sounding E strings i have had on a Ric and i have had a few lol,
build quality is top notch, zero issues, the only thing i have noticed about the newer rics 2014/2015 is who ever is cutting the nut's at the factory could do with cutting them a bit wider i was struggling to fit a set 0f 45-105's had to file the nut !!!
that is my only gripe otherwise it is a stunning sounding bass.

+1 on the nut issue - I had the same problem with a 4003S earlier this year. They were cut way to high for average strings.

My Walnut was the same, but the luthier at the store I bought it from fixed that and now it's perfect.

That's because the stock A and D strings are very thin, I think they're .55 and .75 something like that. I have usually found the nuts cut a bit high also though.

Glad you like it! I still struggle with loving MG, but I sure wouldn't turn one down either if a good deal presented itself!

I usually go for Jetglo as colour of choice, and i could have had a Jetglo, one was available but i had HQ images of the Mapleglo and just fell for all the birds eye maple splattered all over the body both front and rear, also on the Jetglo the strings were out of alignment with the pickup poles a thing i have noticed on a lot of new Ric's recently more so the D and G strings, so that put me off the Jetglo, i am happy with my choice as the bass sounds really good, big fat E string and really nice acoustic response from the bass, i thought why cover up that fantastic wood grain after all they are all maple underneath the paint anyway !!!!
