Rickenbacker 650 C

Post by strummersteve »

Howdy All,
Brand new to this forum but a long time member on the Rickenbacker forum under the name "flyingeagle". My question is can Dr. Ducks ax-wax be used on the fret board on this guitar? Also, what is the safest way to keep the body clean?

Thanks
Steve

Thanks...great info...the only issue is that the 650 C does not have the standard RIC finish. This one has a hand rubbed oil finish. in the owners manual it says to use a diluted mixture of Tung oil and water. After checking many web sites I found that there are many different types of Tung oil. Needless to say I am hesitant to use any of these products. In the past I used Dr. Duck's Ax-Wax on unfinished rosewood fingerboards. I just wanted to know if this product is safe to use on the 650 C. Any assistance will be helpful.

You don't have a 650 C, you either have a 650 Dakota (chrome hardware) or 650 Sierra (gold hardware)...both have the natural Walnut finishes. I know that using Simple Green diluted in water cleans the gunk on the maple fingerboards. The forum does have a wonderful search feature and you can search to see what other people have used in the past to make their 650s look good.

It has been a rough week. You are correct. My guitar is a 650 D. The info provided was a great help. Thanks
