Has any board member swapped out the treble pickup ring with something a bit "flatter"? I play with a pick and am finding that the stock ring (sans cover) is getting in the way and my hand position is not as comfortable as it is on my Ibanez and I'd like to give myself some more strumming room.
I'm thinking of going with the first image found on Frets On The Net:
It looks closer to the stock thickness... apparently, it can be made thicker, but I don't see the benefit/need for the extra thickness (unless someone can point out why):

Thoughts?
Just make sure the original height adjustments screws are not too long when using a surround that is shorter (the depth of the cavity is your limit, there).
Just my opinion, but it seems like the plate should be at least the thickness of the pickguard material. The concept is cool though. Hard to tell, but, if it's the jetglo bass in your avatar, it looks like you've gotta hipshot on there and the simplicity of the pickup plate could pair nicely with it. No doubt you could find shorter screws if you need them. Maybe consider using screws made out of stainless with either Allen or torx heads. Those stock screws can get kind of gnarly. Thanks for posting the link! For the longest time I wanted something like that, but engraved like those parts from El Dorado.

They look pretty cool to me! The website should post a pic of them installed on a Rick so you can tell more about it,but at that price,it would be fun to just try it. (I like the idea of the thicker one, myself).
Would this eliminate the need for that fill-in piece everyone gets when they remove the cover?
