1966 F HOLE 4005 Bass?

Post by holyg »

I own a 1965/67 4005 Rick hollow body bass that has a F hole instead of the cats eye slit. I believe it is a S model that was shipped to Europe. Does anyone know anything about this style bass bass? How many were produced? Thanks HolyG

You can search on "4005 export" and you will get a number of discussion threads such as

A limited number of these basses were made in 1967 and distributed through Rose Morris, mostly to the Italian market. Rare bass and a cool one at that. Post some pics.

Hi Tom. The Rose Morris RM 3261 was the "export" version of the 2005 hollow-body Rick bass. I feature it in my book, and the one shown there was recently acquired and then used on stage by Geddy Lee. Not many were made, but there is no way to determine how many. RIC does not release production numbers for any bass except the certified limited editions. Do me a favor and check the date code of the one you have. I'm guessing it will be 1967, but would like to know for sure. If it isn't, I could use that info if I were to produce an updated edition of the book. Thanks!

I responded in one of the replicate posts, but I will reiterate it here.

A picture of the 1967 Fireglo RM3261 I used to own is here:
