NBD - 4003 Walnut!

Post by turlu »

Never thought I would fall into this so quick, but I could not resist at all !

The neck with its smooth satin finish, slim profile, is super fast and easy to play! The best ever on any Rics I owned. Very comparable to the Cheyenne bass - first version I had a few years back. The walnut is absolutely gorgeous and the maple neck, with the quality of the wood, is amazing! A very superb instrument, really!

That's a fantastic example, Stephane. Congrats on getting such a wonderful looking bass. :)

Something to ring (play) in the New Year with!

I love the neck finish !!! So smooth and fast !!! I have a hard time going back to other 'varnished' neck finishes now!

You could lightly sand down the gloss on the other necks. This is a fairly standard "trick" of the trade.

I would never do that on any of my Ric Basses although very possible someone would want to do that too!

The 4003 walnut is a gorgeous bass, in every way!

I have only had one opportunity, so far, to see and play any of the walnut 4003 basses, but I have played a few of the old 4004C basses; they are, universally, great looking. 8)

When I had the Cheyenne - version 1, I was not ready for such a change and could not appreciate the Tone at the time..... I kick myself for selling it at the time !!!

Well, well well.... Now, the 4003 Walnut fulfills my needs entirely !
