Badass bridge-- yes or no?

FWIW, I used to own a Fender Geddy Lee signature Jazz Bass, it came stock with a Badass II bridge, Geddy's choice. One of the two major issues with that bass (the other one being the pencil neck) was lack of low frequencies. The bass simply had no real bottom end. The solution was easy: swap the BA bridge for a "normal" Fender bass bridge.

yep ... every single Geddly Lee jazz bass that I have played has been substandard ... worse than the mim models ... If I was Geddy I would be disapointed that the bass that bears his name has so little quality ... never buy a fender signature bass ...

Also if you want a Geddy Lee Ric bass just get a '70s jetglo and you have a genuine article ... there is no shortage of 70's ric basses ...

It's kind of interesting the mystique of Geddy and his ric ... he has played p basses, jazz basses, wal basses, and others but the best of what he did was with the Ric bass ... and when people think of Geddy they think of the ric ...

Well... also, a lot of people tend to mistake his Jazz sound for a Ric.

Tom Sawyer for example - Jazz.

Oh - At least his Jazz is in some way similar to his Rics, it has two truss rods!

And yes, the Fender GL Sig. Series is one awful, **** bass.

listen to geddy's FENDER live,you can here it's trebly dominance and overdriven to grab every low freq. especially on closer to the heart video on vh1 classic. i am not a .047 fan either but geddy uses it (and alot of e.q.) for his style on some songs.

Which turned out to be not so limited an edition. I don't have any complaints about my GL signature, or my Steve Harris sig basses, but my first GL went back with a twisted neck.

it is too bad that the JAPS do not use graphite in their necks like fender USA. I HAD A COUPLE lefty fender JAP models,the fret work was nice! maybe they will soon.

I have had three of the GL jazz basses and was not happy with any of them. I got rid of them all as quickly as I got them for that reason. One had a weird neck, the trussrod adjuster ends up being buried in the body and that caused some challenges etc...It is a cheap way to make a signature model..

yep he did use the jazz for Tom Sawyer ... there is a trick to make a jazz sound like a ric ... turn up the neck volume to 10 turn the bridge volume to 5-8 range and turn the treble to 7-10 ...

listen to the original version of the trees or freewill where he plays the ric and then listen to the concert versions where he plays the jazz ... there is something lacking ...

Yeah...

The Jazz bass sounds like a WWII fighter engine, raspy, thin... loud.

The Ric's growl comes from deep within the follow-through of the note, right from where the string is struck.

Certainly not lacking in talent, that's fer sure! I have to admit, I liked the MUSIC better with the Ric, but the man can make any bass sound good. Give his fingers and talent a lot of the props.

Geddy's Jazz has two truss rods? I've never heard of a Jazz with two truss rods.
