Now I'd just like Santa to send me a couple of those Selmer straps.

The look of those Selmer's has inspired me for years and I didn't even know the brand. Reunion Blues used to make one of the best, very comfortable. The color goes well with the fretboards of Rickenbackers.

Maybe RB founder Glenn Cronkhite still has the pattern. http://www.glenncronkhite.com

Nice.... they should make them again. Ric makes a good strap and I have one of these tan ones on my natural 350v63 and a brown one on my 360 sunburst. The leather is high quality and the original length was set for Wilt Chamberlain.... nothing that a leather punch and scissors couldn't take care of, but it was pretty comical when if first arrived. But the Reunion Blues design looks nicer.

I actually use the RB for my 4003fl and should get one of the RIC straps for the 610. Someone was asking about vinyl straps elsewhere; Couch Guitar Straps are really good. They use old stock material from various places for their beautifully made straps. I have one made from 1982 Mercedes upholstery that matches the tortoise shell pick guard on a Fender bass. Also very comfortable. They have a black vinyl one that looks an awful lot like the one Paul currently uses, but I have no idea whether or not he actually does. Their website is pretty fun.

It's entirely possible that Glenn would make straps if you're interested. I think he's still making cases too.

So who's the guy on the left in the hounds tooth? Looks so familiar! Epstein back there of course and it looks like Maureen behind the other two ladies that I'm not recognizing. Is that early '63?

Vox amps are so cool, but some of my favorite pictures are from that pre-Vox era. Harrison said that the Gibson was under powered. Imagine hearing the Beatles playing through fifteen watt amps! I don't think they could ever have been an especially loud band. There was a guy here in town who ran a late night nosh bar who actually saw the Beatles playing at the Cavern. If anyone else had told me that I wouldn't have believed it, but this guy was entirely credible.

Thanks again for posting these fab shots!

YES! The Caveman himself, and in the Cavern! And I take it back, I have a feeling they were pretty loud on the 1965 Sullivan show.

Good one.........
Lionel Bart (1 August 1930 – 3 April 1999) was a writer and composer of British pop music and musicals, best known for creating the book, music and lyrics for Oliver!
Thats Alun Owen on the left (with Paul peeking through)..... curiously the Beatles last Cavern gig was August 63. Alun Owen wasn't brought in to write AHDN until early 64. So either Epstein knew Owen in the summer of 63, or this pix was taken at the Cavern during a non-Beatles concert.
