You could land a light aircraft on that neck Jeff!
'Rickenbacker'...what a name! After all these years, it still thrills me.

Jeff, have you ever checked out John Paul Jones' Zooma CD (his first solo effort - a couple years ago)? He uses 10 & 12 string basses almost exclusively these days, built by one of the Manson brothers (Hugh or Andy - I can't keep them straight, but one does electric and the other acoustic, including JPJ's triple neck acoustic guitar that he's had since Zep's '77 tour). Zooma has some *very* cool stuff on it. Image

Hugh does the electrics & Andy the acoustics. Their shop is about 2o minutes from where I live & they have supplied me with three Rics in the past. Hugh & Tim look after the electrics & are pretty damn good at it too. Hugh also makes the guitars for Mat Bellamy of Muse (who comes from my town of Teignmouth).

Anthony, that's pretty neat that you live down the road from their shop. Image

Have you seen Andy's coffee table book Talking Wood? It took me forever to find, but I was thrilled to finally add it to my collection. I've had it for awhile, and haven't read it all the way through yet, but I do that a lot with books that I think may be hard to get or eventually OOP - buy now, and get around to them down the road sometime. Christopher, I don't know Andy 'cause I'm not into acoustics, but I know Hugh (he made me a very nice body for a Tele a good while ago). The shop is really great & they get guitars that we wouldn't see very often in the south west of England. They don't do a lot in Rics though because as they pointed out to me, I'm probably the only person in Devon that they'd sell them to. Funny place Devon. Never mind, Devons loss is my gain!
