Ding in the clear coat?

I can't believe it. I haven't even had my C64 for 24 hrs when yesterday after adjusting the truss rods I layed the bass on my lap, and the nut driver slipped from my hand and fell on the bass putting a small ding in the clear coat above the bridge pickup. Doh, it's a tiny little ding and I think I may be able to rub it out somehow. I know it's going to take a lot more abuse, but for a brand new bass I want it spotless for now. Also, when adjusting the truss rod I put a small hairline crack in the truss rod cover. Unlike the 4003's you can't slide the TRC out from behind the strings when making adjustments. With the reverse headstock you either have to slide the TRC up the headstock as far as it will go, or remove the strings.
Any suggestions, on the removal of the ding?

Just leave 'em in dude! There gonna get there anyway.....see, your new C64 must be a "special" one and has an accelerated "mojo filter", apparently....

Don't ask me about removing nicks.

I'd just leave it and put it to the back of your mind. What's a tiny, inconspicuous nick?

I have serious GAS for a Fireglo C64.

Typical, I sell all my 4000-series and want another straight after.

Buy that FG C64 Mark. You won't regret it. One thing you will regret is selling off all your others. I was thinking of selling my 4003 MB to cover some of the cost for the C64 but decided I would be foolish to do so.

I just might.

I honestly think this is the perfect time to acquire a C64. I personally believe they'll cease manufacturing of the C64 within 4-6 years.

Then they'll be rare as hell.

Got to be a joker, he just do what he please ....

On another note:
I'm begining to think my next Fireglo should be a c64, unless the c68 is announced.

I was thinking today I really should just embark on a quest to collect a Fireglo in each model from the 4000 on ... course Firerglo 4005 might be a tad difficult in aquiring, but there's more than a few very nice models to be had meantimes.

So my fellow Forumites, anyone wishing to assist may donate a Fireglo 4000, or a 4005, remember Fireglo only please !!!!

I'm telling you Jim, I don't know if I'll play my 4003 for a while. The C64 is now my #1, that neck is so sweet, not to mention the sound of those pickups. I can dial in so many different tones with these pups. I like it right now with both volumes cranked and the bass tone all the way with just a hint of treble tone.
I heard the run on the C64 may be just another year or two.

Bob, I know exactly how you feel, I've had to specifically make time to give my 4003 some decent exercise since getting my v63 in October. The v63 is the one I reach for first, and is the one that's seen the majority of rehearsal time.

Like you describe the range of tones and power out of the v63 pickups is amazing, I'm enjoying every minute.
