2007 RIckenbacker Yellowburst?

Post by squirebass »

I just saw this one out on reverb and was wondering if this one has ever come up before on this board. Did a couple of searches but didn't find anything. The link below shows a bass with a unique finish, traditional toaster in traditional position(in a bathtub route), horsey, bass ackwards TRC and a few other goodies. I'd never heard of this "special order" before, but I'd bet someone here has. There is a fairly lengthy discussion of how it came about for Chris Squire. I'm wondering if anyone here owns one, what the other finishes were, and misc, thoughts?

I've seen that making the auction site rounds. Looks like someone got creative. Not sure who or to what extent though. At least they're not trying to claim RIC did this.

Well, the way I read it indicates that RIC was involved. See the part about ..."Chris Squire commissioned 7 Rickenbacker specials to be created..." I'm paraphrasing it (hard to cut/paste on phone) but I got a strong implication that RIC was involved...

It says some guy in the UK sprayed the front. The bass probably was build by RIC but that is true for anything they sell and ship! What happens after that is no factory standard and not RICs thing.

Perhaps this is one of the basses discussed here

Thanks Nov_1981!!!
John Hall's comments on this are interesting, but I'm not a fan of the regular headstock with reverse trc...
