Six pole to four pole conversion in UK?

Post by pag »

Can anyone here recommend a pickup specialist in the UK who can reconfigure a 60s six pole lap steel bobbin into a four pole bass pickup?
I had someone's name but lost it in the ether.
Cheers.
Pete.

Aren't bass toasters 6-pole? and thus all toasters 6-pole?

A 6 pole toaster works fine. What's the downside to a 6 pole HS?

The magnetic field works differently using horseshoes vs. magnet slugs. Has any of you guys who have used lapsteel horseshoe pickups for bass tried the pickup before converting from 6 to 4 pole pieces to see how well it works before conversion?
