Stolen 1965 4005
Not my bass, and I've encouraged the owner to post here on RRF, but see link below to a thread on Talkbass regarding recent theft of a 1965 Mapleglo 4005. https://www.talkbass.com/threads/stolen ... o.1242383/
Re: Stolen 1965 4005
Let you friend know that it is a 1967 bass not '65... according to the serial number he posted.
Sad when this happens.

Thanks, I don't know the guy personally, just virtually on TB. I linked him to this thread on RRF. Is there a stolen bass registry on RRF?xsubs wrote:Let you friend know that it is a 1967 bass not '65... according to the serial number he posted.

Yep, it's a bummer when people get the date of their guitar wrong.xsubs wrote:Let you friend know that it is a 1967 bass not '65... according to the serial number he posted.

Seriously, though - this is terrible. I hope the guy gets his bass back. Rare guitars like this have a way of popping up much later, after having changed hands many times. Hope the owner has filed a police report, since otherwise he has no claim on the bass if it ever pops up for sale years from now.

Re: Stolen 1965 4005
Apparently he did file a report FWIW. He said they took the bass, but oddly, not the OHSC, which is worth a good bit too. Sounds like kids looking for a quick buck, he may get lucky if it turns up locally in a Pawnshop. If anybody on RRF catches a whiff of it, I'll hope they will let the guy know.

All's well that ends well! The guy got his bass back, he left it a bit mysterious, which makes me think they had a pretty good idea who stole it, and preferred not to press charges. probably a neighbor or relative fessed up. Rare bit of good news.

Wow, that was fortunate the way it worked out .... sounds like it must have been someone they knew or somebody's bad-behaving child. They are very lucky it resolved itself.
