Yamamoto MS-12 12 string guitar
I finally got around to making some photos of this guitar I got in March 2015 while out in the San Francisco area.
This was built by Tony in 2011, I found is at Eric Schoenberg's shop in Tiburon (a must do guitar shop for anybody into great acoustic guitars). It has a multiscale (fanned fret) neck (25.5"-27"), jumbo body with arm bevel, sound port, and Manzer Wedge™. The woods are German spruce, Macassar ebony, flamed koa, Cameroonian ebony, maple, and Honduran mahogany. The Wedge™ and arm bevel make the guitar feel smaller than it really is.
The MS-12 has a big, full range tone to it, with a really nice extended bottom end, and due to its multiscale nature it works extremely well with alternate tunings. I have tuned the low E string pair down to C with excellentl results.

And, a few more.

Now that is one nice guitar! Wow!

Tony's guitars are really great. He is one of several luthiers who has been truly advancing the SOTA of acoustic guitars in recent years.

I don't know if I'd be able to play that thing. Perpetual fear of inflicting the first ding. I'm generally pretty pragmatic about the fact that stuff you use ends up looking used, but that thing's in a whole different league.
Very nice.
Very nice.

No worries, really. I bought the guitar used, it already had a small ding on the top and some minor surface scratches. Perpetual fear of damaging the 730/12L I had a few years ago was why I sold that guitar!Ric5150 wrote:I don't know if I'd be able to play that thing. Perpetual fear of inflicting the first ding. That would help a little, at least.
