Need a couple more photos for 2nd Edition

Post by bassduke49 »

Folks, I'd like to get hi-res photos of two more recent Rick basses in order to make the 2nd Edition up to date. A few years ago, there was a special batch of brown burst basses that went to Europe (UK?). I'd like to get a full-length and a body-only closeup if you have it.

Also, I need good shots of the Guitar Center 4001S or SP or whatever they called it. I know there was a giant kerfuffle about that model here, but does anyone have one of them that they can shoot for me?

You can respond here and/or PM through the Forum. Thanks!

Paul, I believe the first of the two special finish basses you are looking for was called "Walnut Burst" and I believe was a UK special run of various models in that finish. There are a few on the Register, but no pics of a 4003: http://www.rickresource.com/register/in ... celebrity=

As far as the 2nd type of bass you mentioned, I found this on the Register, perhaps this is what you were thinking of -- 25 limited edition run for Japan market, 4001SPC: http://www.rickresource.com/register/vi ... p?id=43034

Hmm. Did not know of that special run for Japan. I was looking for the Guitar Center special which would have been around the same time. They're probably the same, visually, but I'd like the GC one if I can find one.

I got great shots of the Noir from Ron O'Keefe, but I'd still love to get shots of the PW acoustic bass for the "Customs, . . . " chapter. Thanks! :D

Thanks, Jack. Yours? Did you take the photo? May I use it in the book?

The guitar centre basses were all made week 13 of 2014. 50 made in natural maple. I am sure there was a sealer coat but they were not high gloss. The was some attempt in GC advertising to link the basses to Sir Paul, but that did not come from RIC.

The Japanese special orders in 2014 were 4003 basses in Ruby and Jetglo with mirrored plastic TRC and Pick Guard made in week 42. And the other was FG 4003 basses with checkered binding also made in week 42. I think they were limited to 25 each, but I can't remember where I heard that now. Also the Natural maple ones like the GC that Ron Linked to above. Week 42 was busy I guess. Not sure why the mirrored plastic did not end on the FG too.

Lastly don't forget the lovely Fire Alarm Red 4003 basses made for the German distributor. Week 27 of 2014. I think they were nicest of the lot in my humble opinion. :D

Thanks, Brian. Got that. They also made some Ruby with checker binding and mirror pickguard, and I was able to get photos of all these. See my comment in the cover sneak peek thread on the satin-finish vintage edition to Japan.

That Fire Alarm Red Rick with the checker binding and maple fingerboard is striking, and I have some great shots of that for the book, too. You guys are pulling through! Thanks so much! :D

Yes, yes and yes. I could send you higher res versions if you prefer. I could also take better pics if you would like something else. Like maybe something with a better background.
