360 WB
HI there,
I just received a 360 WB from 1988 with black hardware.
And I was wondering if the combination with the chrome tailpiece and tuners was something that RIC produced more often.
Or is this not the original setup and should the tailpiece and tuners also be black?
I appreciate your answer(s) or suggestions.
Regards
Terry

Re: 360 WB
Hi Terry, that is a really sharp looking guitar!
It is rare to see a factory combination of chrome hardware and black plastic, but anything's possible.
Since not all of the hardware is chrome here, there is a very good chance that the original black tailpiece exploded and was replaced with a chrome part. I have no explanation for the tuners, though.

Hi John,
Thanks for your reply.
Yes, that is a possibility. Or maybe a previous owner added the black pickup covers and bridge cover?
I'm just curious you know

That is a possibility, but unlikely - black Higains are rare enough, those black bridge covers are VERY rare.tejepe wrote:Hi John,

Re: 360 WB
Given that all those parts are removable/screwed in place, it is anybody's guess as to whether it is all original, or not.
Enjoy the guitar.
Enjoy the guitar.

Re: 360 WB
My 1990 Jetglo 360 WB was all chrome with white PG and TRC.
It currently was hot rodded in 2000 with 7.4 toasters and Gold PG & TRC. (still have the original white parts)
Very sweet look on a Jetglo with Gold appointments and ambered binding.
I will have to add a couple pics when I find a few.

Re: 360 WB
I notice your guitar has white binding. In my experience, the black hardware (BH) and black trim (BT) was generally put on White, Red and Midnight Blue Ricks from that era. I've not seen a Jetglo Rick with factory black hardware (with or without white binding) from that era. My guess is someone substituted the black pickguard and black hardware for what was originally chrome (other than the tailpiece, which is more expensive and harder to find).
Sharp looking guitar, by the way!

Re: 360 WB
I purchased a 4003S back in the early 1990s that was mapleglo with all black hardware and PG, TRC. Since I wasn't really a fan of that, I replaced all of it with either chrome hardware or the white pg and TRC. Rickenbacker used to replace TRC if you sent them the old one, so I got a white TRC in trade for the black one, and bought a white PG. All of the hardware was replaced with official Rickenbacker hardware, so it fit like a glove and looks completely correct.
I sold it years ago, so someone probably has that bass now with absolutely no idea that it was originally all Black trim...
