Essentially,
I had already a 360 (96 model purchased in 98)when I bought the 660 (2000 model). Initially, I wanted for the 660 for the esthetics and the gold pick gard and head stock. At the time, the 660 neck was really thick and my hand did not feel as comfortable and hurt a bit. It was still beautiful and everything, but, it did bug me a bit. I then made the decision/mistake to get a ric-12 via a trade. I traded for it by using the 660 as I felt the neck to thick. As we all know, never trade what you have, because you end up wanting it again. I became reinterested in the 620 because I love the Rossmeisel shape and thought that the neck would be similar to the 360s (I have three of those). I was right. The neck seems the same, the wood grain is less flashy than the 660, but still super. I think that the higains do compliment the through body design. I had found that on my 660, the toasters lacked something. The neck feels heavier than the on a 360 as it lays inthe guitar, but mainly because it has a smaller body.

I am happier with the 620 and a real believer in today's stock rics, even though I modded the 12 string with toasters and have a cw 360. I think that the stock guitars have plenty of jangle, have retained the specific ric esthetic and have a price/quality ratio that is impressive.

Am I the only one here who chuckled to hear you're the only guy in an almost all-girl band, with stunnin' twin chicks ... and the group is called "The Blanks"? I hope you're not the one shootin' 'em ...

But, hey, great guitar. Who needs twins when you have a Ric to keep you warm at night. Twins come and go, but Rics are 4-ever. Happy playing, and welcome to the forum.

No, Paul, you've got that wrong...women come and go, but twin Ricks are forever...Image

Um, Homer, er, Jim, those are both MB...

This is a great example of how far color shifts on the Web. Topnotch digital SLR, no color compensation, and there ya go...

So anyone who is not too sure about the new Blueburst, wait til you see one in real life!!!

hey guys,

yes the band is an odd one. the intention is to get signed but im the only one who can actually (well ostensibly) play. The girls are going to sing although Vanessa reckons she is going to learn to play drums...
Its not going to be a spectacle of musicianmanship (or woman ship) but im sure itll be a spectacle.
Is very gimmicky but we just having a laugh whatever - hope it will be a laugh whatever. It's easier than ever to get signed in London at the moment, post Libertines. We are really just extracting the urine but you never know. I had to talk them out of having me in the dark in a Hooded Top on one corner of the stage! BTW I am still loving this site. They had some nice Rickenbackers when I went down to Denmark Street today. Frustratingly they hardly ever have the prices on, so you gotta ask, if you want to know which takes the fun out 'shoppin' with no cash

I went down checking out amps. For £540 i can get a Fender Hot Rod 1x12 40 w. Tried it out for about 1/2 an hour. Really nice actually I thought. They had no Rickenbacker in the shop, so I used a £1000 Telecaster which although pretty nice, wasn't nearly as nice as my 620 ;) . There was a cheaper Hot Rod style amp but the assistant reckoned it wouldnt really be loud enough for gigs. I think it was about £370. I really want a valve amp because the tone to me sounds much richer and more dated, which is what I love. Almost like the difference between vinyl and cd. Do you reckon its worth the differnce in price to save for a valve? Or am i just being snobbish? Think of the guitar sound to 'You cant do that' by the beatles. Thats what im basing my sound around. Not that I want to be John Lennon or anything, of course....

Go for the valve, esp. with a Rick.

They shouldn't make transistor guitar amps. Guitars deserve valves!
Can you name ONE top recording guitarist who uses tranny amps?
I bet one of you does actually know one!
'Rickenbacker'...what a name! After all these years, it still thrills me.

Oh, I can think of a couple - BB King, with his Gibson Lab Series amps, and good ol' Dimebag, who was a solid-state Randall user.

But then, in at least one of those cases, we have a talent that transcends the gear. I've never heard Dimebag (to the best of my knowledge), but he certainly commanded respect in his musical quarter, and if solid-state was good enough for him, then so be it.

Ok valve it is, may have to wait until March tho... So expensive on my 'salary'. Probably go for tweed finish. BB King on transistors? I would never have known that. Dimebag had a signature amp if my memory serves me correctly. Never the bigest Pantera fan, but, RIP Darryl
