Pink 4003? Fireglo BT Prototype?

Post by cheyenne »

Anyone have the scoop on these? I spotted them over on the TB forum, The pink is supposed to be a special run for Chicago Music Exchange, and the Fireglo Black trim, check bound, ebony fingerboard, vintage knob one is reported to be a "prototype"? I cant find out any info anywhere.

Check out the rickenbacker Facebook page. Everyone seems to have missed the (what looks to be) white 5 stringers with walnut wings that are sitting up high in the background. Just saying...

Hard to tell with them way in the background; I can't make out that they are anything other than 4 string basses. What is it you are seeing, Andy?

I thought they were 4003MGs...

Jeff, try expanding the "John and George together again" pic it looks, to me anyway, that there are 3 peg holes on the top side. Maybe they are MG's but they seem very light to me. Or maybe it's wishful thinking...

You may be correct, Andy. It does seem that the left side of the headstocks have what appear to be three dark areas that could be post holes, possibly.

If we're looking at the same thing, those are definitely two regular 4003 MG's.

No, sorry, Jason. There are definitely 5 post holes. I've only been looking on my phone and just had a chance to look with my laptop. You could be right about the color but not the number of post holes... check out the John and George pic...

I assigned this to the RRF CSI department and told them to "enhance" just like on TV! :)

Looks like a shadow to me.

Except...what looks like the hole in the hole in the headstock for the "A" tuner on a four string is much further forward than it would be on a four string. I think this may be a five string.

I was looking at the wrong place... that certainly looks like a 5er headstock...

The first headstock definitely has 3 holes on the bass side; hard to tell with the others.

Could be an employee project, who knows?

All the zoomed-out photos definitely make it look like a 5. It's when you zoom in it gets weird. I wish we had more modern forum software and could tag a member... like Ben!
