Different JangleBoxes?
As I´m looking for a "JangleBox" for my 360-12 I wonder how the different models differ.
On ebay I saw :
A silver one, a black one with a bright "J" in the middle as well as one with a red "J".
Furthermore I remember a golden/ yellow one and one "Byrds" 50 anniversary.
Then there is a bigger one which has more knobs and is more expensive.
Any suggestions what I should get - or do they give all the same effects?

Re: Different JangleBoxes?
Unless you need a compressor with two fully-adjustable channels, I would go with the original black JangleBox. It's a classic!

Folkie, thanks for your advice!
Re: Different JangleBoxes?
I bought this one yesterday.
I hope it will arrive soon.
Looking forward to the sound of my 360-12

Re: Different JangleBoxes?
Be aware that the original JangleBox used a reverse polarity power supply, so don't use any ordinary power supply on it... I just use 9V batteries and play it super safe! Great pedal.

You can get a reverse polarity connecting cord by contacting Janglebox, so you can utilize your stomp box power supply.jdogric12 wrote:Be aware that the original JangleBox used a reverse polarity power supply, so don't use any ordinary power supply on it... Thanks for your kind warning!
I will think of it at the first try.
I didn´t know the polarity.
Might be indicated too somewhere on the box?

Re: Different JangleBoxes?
I thought the new reissue of the original JangleBox was designed to work with standard adapters. Is the JangleBox you bought used or new?
Re: Different JangleBoxes?
I purchased the box by auction on eb##.
Price was lower than new and it was described
as "used but in good condition".

Re: Different JangleBoxes?
If you're not using a 9-volt battery as your power source, you'll probably have to get a reverse polarity cable. But I would absolutely check with the owner of JangleBox first. He's personable and responds to e-mails promptly: info@janglebox.com
If you give him your serial number, I'm sure he can tell you whether your black JB is the old one or the reissue. You don't want to mix up the polarity, as you could potentially damage your pedal.

Re: Different JangleBoxes?
Today I got the answer from "JANGLEBOX" about the power supply of the black JB with a red "J" :
If the JangleBox is red lettered, it requires a pin-Positive power source. It is the only one of our pedals that has that feature.
The silver- (or white-) lettered JangleBox is pin-negative, as are all our other pedals.

Re: Different JangleBoxes?
Glad you got that straightened out, Diethard. Hope you're getting some vintage chime from your 360/12 and your original JangleBox!

Diethard, did you receive your Janglebox and is it living up to expectations ?
Re: Different JangleBoxes?
This morning my Janglebox arrived!
Now I have to look for a 9VDC adapter next week.
Meanwhile I´m using it with a 9V battery.
First try produced some humming because I hadn't´t found the right set-up
with the cables and plugs. But now everything is alright.
I am running it through my Laney Lionheart L5-Studio amp
over a 2x12" greenback cabinet.(= loud enough!)
My expectations are in large part fulfilled as the chime of my 360-12
is moderate - but not as intense as I had awaited. But not bad at all...
Maybe someone could give me a hint how he adjusts the settings of his box?
Have a nice weekend!

Re: Different JangleBoxes?
My recommendation would be to give your Janglebox some time. I play a 330/6 through one into a Fender Deluxe Reverb, and after some work I found the right balance between "Gain" and "Squeeze". It takes a bit of work, but it's worth it. I even run an overdrive in front of it and can get a nice bitey blues tone. They really help showcase the versatility that my 330 has. Enjoy!!
