Paul, unfortunately, I no longer have my j/glo 4001 (I have a f/glo 4003 as well as several Ric gtrs), but fortunately I do still have my wife. We had a gig on our honeymoon, so the band picked me up from the hotel....she knew what she was in for right at the beginning! & yes, the quality & beauty were equally shared & still is!
'Rickenbacker'...what a name! After all these years, it still thrills me.

I am now 36 and got my first Ric ('73 checkerboard 4001) in '92 when I was 23-ish. Lemmy and Cliff Burton were what 1st attracted me to a Ric.....but when a friend of mine got a Burgundy 4001 and I tried it out I knew I had to have one....well, at least one Image

Just dug out a photo (taken 1980) of my first Ric experience aged 15 ! So Rics aren't just for oldies ,although I'm an oldie now !!

Yeah - great band. I think Weller introduced alot of people in the UK to Rickenbackers (those who were too young to be buying records in the sixties). Just listen to "In the City" - just a 330 cranked through an AC30 - pure tone !

Classic! You must have been a real mod with your Fred Perry shirt and your Pop Art 330. I wish 15 year olds were that cool in America!

The Jam were a great band, although I missed them by a few. Where did you find a Rick with that cool paint job?

That was Weller's actual guitar. Both those guitars in the picture were Weller's. I bought the fireglo 330 from him on the day the picture was taken.

... and to prove that I'm still playing a Ric at age 40 and that Rickenbackers appeal to all ages (I'm on the left):

Oh, man, how did you manage THAT!?! I'm green!

Do you still have that 330?

Paul Weller's a hero. Excellent songwriter and singer. And guitarist. I wish he'd tour the States sometime - and come up to Seattle!

I'm 43 , wait a minute.....you ARE talking age, not waist size , right? Image

...anyway, I've been a RIC fan for many years, but only got my first one 2 years ago. Since then, I have possessed over 25 RIC guitars and/or basses...I love 'em and like to try many to find what I like and then pass them on, keeping the one's I really like.....

Well, I'm 22, and I bought my 360 last year. It's simply a beautiful guitar. I got into Rickenbacker because, well, I like to think of RIC as the Apple Computer of the guitar world: great products, impeccable quality, a character of its own, and not a lot of people have them, which only adds to the charm.

Im 22 also, bought my first a few years ago.
Gave it to my little cousin to 'borrow' about a year ago. He's 16 and loves it. but I would say the 40 trend is true.
I tend to to see the 330's 360's as cartoonish/old people guitars. and often chuckle when I see a younger person playin one
I like the 350's, but would avidly avoid the signature black color.
Im a big fan of the 650 + HBs
wish I could get a Ric with the wood grain figure of a PRS

I wouldnt call it an apple. Ric lacks all application short-comings of an apple.

Weller is a terrific musician and songwriter. Unfortunately, the last time he toured the States, it was to dismal ticket sales. Will he ever come back to perform? Doubtful.

To me, PRS guitars have become the #4 belly-button guitar. A Rick with the degree of "flame" that PRS guitars have, would look like a freak. It's about subtle vs. OTT, in my opinion.
