I've been a visitor of this forum for 8 or 10 months now. I've met some very talented people (M.Arnquist for one) and have learned a great deal about my bass (and Rics in general) by reading through the posts and by posting several questions of my own. I've noticed a rather sharp drop in the posts to the forum since the registration requirement went into effect. I sincerely hope that the posts will begin to appear at the previous pace at some time in the near future. This has been an interesting, informative and fun place to cruise through. I hope it gets back to what it was. I'd hate to think that because someone relays a bad experience,(which they should be allowed to do) someone else doesn't like it, and because of it this forum becomes just another web site.

Gary: I agree and thanks for your comments. I am sending out new registrations but not as quickly as I would have liked. I hope to have them completed before the end of July 2001.

By all means, this is a forum for the free exchange of information. However . . . and this applies to all public communication . . . everyone is responsible for the accuracy of their comments. At the point when defamatory remarks are made, the right to say anything comes with a distinct possible legal liability. Registration and the inclusion of one's IP address now makes everyone (and possibly their employer, if posted from work) accountable for their own words, as it should be.

Mark: To my way of thinking there should be nothing to stop folks from posting on The Rickenbacker Forum. I agree that getting an account is a change and may be a hassle for some, while others who wish to remain anonymous, perhaps, will choose a forum that suits them. Let it be known that I will assist anyone who is having trouble getting registered. For those who are, my apology. Please send your requests to [email protected]

I don't mind the registration, but why the moderation? If you have the IP addresses logged, why do we have to wait to see our posts? It kind of takes away the fun of conversing in near real-time?

Sea Green: I concur with your comments with regard to moderation. I have made what I hope to be the proper changes to the programming so that we are back to real time.

Yes, nice to see the Forum come alive once again. BTW, Mark, I thought the Seattle area was on PDT. ;)
