Like the look of the vintage black knobs, but ordered a set of stove knobs just for fun. Love the way they look, but what about that "blend" knob?
Made one on my lathe and finished it to match the brown stoves.
Just the right blend now... whaddya think?

Thanks. I thought long and hard (long before I ever got my 660) about what type of knob would look best for the blend replacement when I fitted the stoves.
IMO, a smaller stove (the most "logical" approach) would look a bit strange, kinda like a Ferrari with one tire replaced with a space saver spare... So I did some sketching and the best solution was also simplest (and not surprisingly not the most "logical").
The result is a pretty subtle little devil, but it's a hat shape with a brim which echoes the skirt on the stove knob, with a simple taper and a low crown. I had some anodized aluminum and tried one with this treatment, but it still looked out of place, so it ended up plain brown. Color was actually painted on this one for photography, but I'm going to make some molds and run off a few in brown to match the stovies.

Thanks, Paul. Now I'm waiting for a set of stoves for my 381V69. I'm going to try the same "vintage" look on this one, but with gold plexi pickguards like the 660-12 and a gold truss rod cover, too. I'll post pics when it's done.

Thanks for putting up that pic. I have always wondered what a Montezuma glo would look like with a gold pickguard. The only reason I hate to change guards is that I'd be without my made in america sticker.
But I have still been considering the change to gold or pearloid pickguard just to personalize my instrument a bit.
