Pickup question ~ 3000 on eBay

Post by loendmaestro »

Hey, does this look like a modern RIC (4004) pickup in this 3000? Easily reversible mod - but it may sound good as is...

I think that's actually a 2050 or 2060 Jeff. The 2020 looks exactly like a 2030 but has passive electronics.

Thanks Chris. I can still see I'll have to bid against Kenny H. though.

I thought the 2050 and 2060 had body binding??? the body on that bass is exactly like my 2030 except for the electronics ...

Jeff is absolutely right on this one. For this body style:

no binding + pickguard = 2020 Hamburg
no binding + no pickguard = 2030 Hamburg
binding + no pickguard = 2050 El Dorado
binding + pickguard = 2060 El Dorado

It's a 2020.

That 2020 is a weird but sleak bass.

Go for it, Jeff.

That replacement pickup looks a lot like the stock ones in my 4002.

you are right ... I wonder if it is a 4002 pickup ... to quote John Hall ... "those pickups are as rare as Hen's teeth"
