The 4004 series was made for 26 years. Very likely, those would would jump on board already had, and have theirs. I still have two of the four I owned.

I bet you're right. On the other hand, I imagine that many potential buyers weren't aware of the existence of the 4004 during much of that time.

I wouldn't want to part with my Cii. It's a unique bass, and I think it does certain things very well.

Also totally love to hear if there's anyone out there who has a 2008 rickenbacker 4004cii Transparent green and is willing to sell theirs.

I doubt they would because it's such an awesome instrument to own. I imagine all 4004cii owners would have that connection with their instrument.

I'm hoping we can gather enough support within the community to put forward a case to Rickenbacker management/ dealers to at least to a limited release of the 4004 cii model

Gary, I truly hope your plan works (the 4004 is one of Rickenbacker's best kept secrets), but markets are markets. Over the years it seems to me that there are waves of these basses offered up for sale. Finding the color you want might be difficult but they do show up from time to time. I know I love both on my 4004s (4004C (my 2nd favorite bass of all time) and 4004L8). Hope you get what you are looking for.

Just an update
I hit up Chicago music exchange about the possibility
Of doing a limited run of the 4004cii

And essentially they said those limited runs are based on agreements between them and Rickenbacker ( which makes sense)

Then I asked if we got enough support together for 4004 limited release. could we put an idea across to them to put forward to Rickenbacker as something like this would probably require dealer support

And essentially got told it doesn't work that way ( which was odd to hear because I thought that it would be a consumer driven thing e.g. if we got enough support then they could at least float the idea)

I know if chicago music exchange did do a limited edition 4004cii it would sell out quick. So need to do more investigating on the process.

Will also look into who are the other rickenbacker dealers and hit them up. If you guys out there know any good dealers to hit up please let me know

You are assuming a fact not in evidence. You said that you are sure that if CME made a special order of 4004 that they would sell them out. I think they are saying to you that they probably would NOT be able to sell them out, and wouldn't want to commit to a special order and end up with a bunch they can't move.

RIC has discontinued and restarted a few models before, but when they did, decades had gone by. Witness the 4003S. It was in production from 1982 to 1996. Then it was not made again until 2015. RIC was without the five-string 4003S/5 from 2002 until 2018 when they redesigned it.

Those are very fair points. Until companies like that see interest/ commitment on this level does make it very hard for them.

The numbers are there to fill orders.

I also did try to get a guage of the numbers they would require.didnt really get a number and Only because the last CME exclusive rickenbacker release were 25( not sure i cant remember ) and models like the noir that rickenbacker released ( 25 again can't honestly remember).

Do you think if we got around those numbers hopefully more to commit to purchasing that it would be enough

Also Ive never thought about it before until you just raised it but do you think it's actually part of Rickenbacker strategy with these models

I think they stop making certain models because they don't sell. And they restart models when they sense enough demand has built up. Take lefties for example. RIC goes years in between batches of lefties. They produce a batch to satisfy built up demand, then stop for a while, even telling dealers that lefties are not available for a while (or so it seems). Then all of a sudden, there's a new batch of lefties moving through the factory.

So we'll see. I really think you should channel your efforts into searching the different chat groups that have for-sale sections, eBay, Reverb, and others for your dream bass.

Talk to Willcutt or Fuller, they seem to do a lot of special editions.
