I saw Roger at an outdoor venue in suburban Philadelphia on July 29th and he was incredible. A chilly mist kept the crowd on the smaller side but Roger, a true professional and bonafide legend, was undaunted. He performed the sacred Byrds canon using his Rickenbacker and a Martin 12 string. A memorable surprise for me was his version of Gene Clark's She Dont Care About Time complete with Bach solo. In addition, he did a great version of Dreamland and several songs from his new Treasures From The Folk Den CD. Roger was also the perfect gentleman before and after the show, taking the time to chat with fans, take pictures, and sign albums , CDs, and guitars. He looked and sounded younger than yesterday. And nothing is better......

Jim: Thanks for the review of Roger's recent performance. She Don't Care About Time has always been a favourite of mine. Can you get a photo to post on his section on the Rickenbacker Registration Page?

Hey Jim, was the performance you went to last year in King of Prussia, PA??! Oh, MAN! Small world, huh. I was at that SAME rainy performance as well and got to meet him afterwards too. I bet I even saw you... Were you the guy talking to Roger outside of the van, or were you the guy with the kid who had him sign his copy of "Sweetheart of the Rodeo"? You may or may not remember me, but Roger signed the back of the name-plate from my Rick 360. And all I could think to say about my Rick to the King of electric 12 Strings was "Oh, it's only a 6 string", and Roger said something like, "Well, that's still pretty cool". It was all cool, and he signed it for me. He also signed my girlfriend's copy of "Notorious Byrd Brothers", and she told him that his acoustic performance of "Eight Miles High" was the best she'd ever heard. We didn't bring the camera either because it was raining, but I really WISH I would've now because his performance was just really Great! "She Don't Care About Time" WAS extremely good and unexpected. I met Roger McGuinn only 8 days after meeting Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys, so that was a GREAT Summer for me! After meeting Roger, and returning home, I tried to think about what songs he played live, and compiled a list. If you have any corrections or anything else to add to this list, please correct me. But, as far as I can remember, here is a list of the songs that Roger McGuinn performed in King of Prussia, PA on July 29 2001:

My Back Pages
Mr. Spaceman
In the Evening (?) (traditional folk song)
Ballad of Easy Rider
Wasn't Born to Follow
A Leadbelly song (?)
One from the City album (?)
Goin' Back
Bells of Rhymney
5D
Turn! Turn! Turn!
song by Joni Mitchell ("Dreamland")
Chestnut Mare
He Was A Friend of Mine
She Don't Care About Time
I'll Feel A Whole Lot Better
You Ain't Goin' Nowhere
Mr. Tambourine Man
Drug Store Truck Drivin’ Man
John the Revelator
Eight Miles High
So You Want to Be a Rock 'N' Roll Star

I put a picture on the net of my Rickenbacker 360, and of the previously mentioned Rick nameplate that Roger McGuinn signed for me after his show in King of Prussia, PA on 7/29/2001. These pictures, along with other relics that I have collected, can be found at the following site:

Just click on each picture to enlarge it.
Among other things, there's my copy of Pet Sounds signed by Brian Wilson, and a Roger McGuinn signed copy of Notorious Byrds Brothers. Enjoy!
