RIC is coming out with fresh and fun stuff finally. I just picked this up from Sweetwater and plan to do a whole V68 cosmetic thing! The satin finish feel is to die for.

I wish we could get stuff like this in the UK.

It is 30.5" scale - Ben's Instagram post introducing the models indicated this and every dealer is advertising it as such.
Re: New Ric bass?
Sorry Joey, but I've played it.rickenbrother wrote:
I didn't go "elsewhere" for that info.
It's short scale. 30.5"

Re: New Ric bass?
Guys...I have to say this.
(...and for the record: yes, I have ordered one!)
How is this 4005XC ACTUALLY a 4005...!?
It is virtually identical to the Shaftesbury bass from the late 60's: indeed Rose Morris themselves actually sold a replica of the 4005 that actually was the same but with an F-hole cutout..!?
This one has a different body shape, and is short scale: basically not a 4005.
Can anyone shed any light on this: perhaps I'm missing some little-known "historicals"?
Was this the original intended shape / size when the 4005 was conceived, maybe?
Why not just make the 4005 that we all know and love.......?

RIC offered a couple of "new" 4002 models that were'nt exactly like the originals. The more modern AC models are a step in a different direction, if you dont like the new 4005 body shape, then why did you order one?

Re: New Ric bass?
The appointments on this bass are fabulous. The CP Inlays look lovely, the return of a skunk stripe and the square heel are fantastic. I think people are getting hung up on the title of the bass more than anything.Im happy about a semi hollow bodied bass being back for sale.
The 330 shape is something ive been wanting in a bass for a long time. Im looking forward to getting one.The wait is the hardest part.Even if RIC made a 4005 RI someone would find fault and moan and complain.
Well done for bringing the 4005XC to production I'm looking forward to it.

Well...I didn't ever say I didn't like the body shape.cheyenne wrote:RIC offered a couple of "new" 4002 models that were'nt exactly like the originals. The more modern AC models are a step in a different direction, if you dont like the new 4005 body shape, then why did you order one?
It just seems a bit strange, that's all!
I mean....if Ford re-issued the GT40 and it looked like a 1990's Mustang, then people would raise an eyebrow or two, right...?

Re: New Ric bass?
The 1993plus got the same response.
Why didnt they make a 2 pickup model...
Why did they make the fretboard too big...
I would have bought that if it had this or that.....
Its not the same as a 1993....
Why didnt they make a proper RI.
You cant please everyone but thats life.
Anyone know any details on the XC Cases?

Re: New Ric bass?
I, too, am happy to see all the new neat stuff lately. The "not quite a 4005" thing doesn't bother me. Look at all the foolishness Gibson did in the 60's with Les Paul vs SG... a rose by any other name, right?
Re: New Ric bass?
That may have sounded a bit harsh. Sorry.
Its just that $4 -$5K is a lot of money to drop on something this not quite to your liking.
