****!! Image

Someone got a deal there, eh Ted?

We were at an auction last night about that time, wasting our time....

I've seen "cyberjeff2000" pop up on the 'bay a good bit....possibly a member here, in stealth mode perhaps??

OK, identify yourself!!! Image

Chris: You are one of the masters here when in comes to nailing down great stuff at low BIN prices.

Hi Guys!

Its about time something like this happened to me! I'm the guy who usually pays through the nose.

I was kinda hoping this one would slip under the radar for now as I know there are "lurkers" out there who might try to sabotage the deal, but now that Erik found the auction I feel I should 'fess up! Please don't hate me for my luck!Image

So here's what happened: Coincidentally, I was on the Forum yesterday- reading and partaking in discussion on the thread entitled "Who said RED was too 80's?!?" that discusses the Rickenbacker color Ruby(my birthstone and probably my favorite Rick color!) I flipped over to ebay and this one popped up. I was the fifth one to see the auction according to the counter at the bottom. My eyes popped out and my jaw dropped. I scanned the text. I saw the words "like new condition," I clicked on two of the photos. Then I clicked my mouse on the BIN button like Geddy whackin' his E-string. I think I almost broke the mouse!

I have contacted the seller and it looks like the deal will happen. He started off his email by saying something to the effect of: "I changed my mind. I figured if the Rick sold that fast, I need to keep it or put it on ebay for a higher price. Just kidding!"

Anyway...the fingers are still nervously, hopefully crossed!

Congrats Jeff! Looks like a beauty! I imagine you're going to be pretty stressed out until it is safely in your hands, huh? Image

Congrats, Jeff. I was cursing my luck when I missed out on that one. I'm glad you got a good one at a really great price. Let me know how it plays since I've been curious about 5-string Rics for a while.
If you think all is going well, you've obviously overlooked something.

Good score Jeff. I often see your name on the Ric items bid list on E bay. It,s been getting crazy price wise recently but there are still some B.I.N. bargains if your in the right place at the right time.

Thanks for all your kind words guys! I try to check in with ebay every now and then. My co-workers look over my shoulder all day and think I'm an obsessive freak! (Them: "Another guitar, Jeff?" Me: "Shut up, mind your own business and get back to work!") I do have some more on my RAS list...and a couple three of my own that will probably make their way to the 'bay eventually. I was kicking myself about that really nice Blackstar that sold in the last couple months for $700.00 on a similar BIN deal. Did that go to a Forum Member?

Oh well...at least I'm not in denial about my problem. My user name should make that clear!Image
