Hi People,Melbourne Australia here!Just posting to introduce myself.Having a fascination for Rickenbackers, it's taken 40 yrs to finally get around to owning one!I've imported a 1980 Burgundy "320" from the States,in immaculate condition,original case.(through e-bay).Looking forward to all the ideas and technical advice available here.

Greetings from the good 'ole U.S.of A. where RIC's flow freely from state to state at low , low prices and where you can find a RIC under every bed.....and you can buy those little pine tree thingies to hang in your car that have the new RIC smell.......ahhhhh!!!

Greg: Yes welcome to The Rickenbacker Forum. Burgundy is a great colour. I especially like the way it shows off the grain and contrasts with the white pickguard and truss-rod cover. We have learned a great deal about the relative scarcity of Rickenbackers in Australia and the taxes. In this way Canada and Australia are quite similar, with the shipping edge gong to Canada.

I would take your weather though.

Pretty gutsy move doing the eBay thing, I reckon.

I'm from Melbourne also but I've taken a different tack - purchased a new 330/6 FG with toasters. It should (repeat SHOULD) be arriving this week from sunny Qld.

I'm close to 54 and I've been wanting one for nearly 40 years myself (an unrequited love!!??)

Hope you have a lot of fun with the Ric. I'd love to see a pic.

Welcome Greg, "it's taken 40 yrs to finally get around to owning one!" - I love it when a plan comes together! BTW Howard, my 330/6 came from Melbourne to Brisbane. Is that ironic, or just a reflection of the global economy, do you think?

Interesting, Lee. Mine's gone from the distributor in Melbourne (CMI) to Guitar World at Nerang and then back down to Melbourne.

Matter of fact I've just spoken to the freight company and it's on the truck - will be here within the hour!!

Won't get much of a chance to play it at work, however. Wish I had brought in an amp, etc.

I've got a pick in my pocket so I'll be able to have a bit of a fiddle. Hope they set it up like I asked..........

Hey Greg, Welcome aboard and congratulations on a rare 320 for down here. I'm Sydney based, and have a '90 320JG and a host of vintage and modern 325's.

We're lucky to have them in the standard colours down here, let alone a rare Burgundy like yours. Glad you went to the effort of bringing one in. I'm a bit of a 320/325 enthusiast. If you see my website you'll get what I mean.

Thanks everyone for the friendly welcome.It was a bit of a risk doing the e-bay thing,however the seller bent over backwards to help me with everything,even included one brand new toaster p/up,mine has 3 hi-gains.He is a private seller,also he miscalculated the shipping(Fedex) to the tune of US$150 and wore it himself.I'm waiting on pics from the debut gig at New years, so i'll post pics of the 320 when i get these.Import taxes were pretty reasonable.Thanks again, Greg.

We have our famous spectacular weather, and some of the sexiest girls (especially here on the Sydney Beaches) but we pay thru the nose for our Rics if we buy new.

I happened to be on the phone to the Australian Ric distributor yesterday and out of interest, asked what the RRP on the 325C58's was. I knew it would be high but was stunned to be told AU$6850.00, knowing what they were being blown out for recently at Guitar Centres in the USA. Cheaper to fly to the USA, have a nice holiday, purchase your guitar, and fly home.

Seriously though, I don't think any Aussie dealer would be game to actually try to sell at this price.... well maybe one.
