Untitled by miked_austin, on FlickrI do prefer the black knobs myself, but the chrome top became the norm in 1964/65 I believe. My Carl Wilson 360/6 LE also came with them standard in 2000.steverok wrote: Tue May 02, 2023 8:09 am That's a stunner. Because it would be really poor restoration work to use the wrong type of knobs for this guitar.steverok wrote: Tue May 02, 2023 8:09 am That's a stunner. Why do I find it funny that, with all that restoration work, it doesn't have vintage black knobs lol ?
Thanks for the information, Collin. I knew there were some subtle differences in the knobs but wasn’t sure when they switched from the dash type to the dot.collin wrote: Tue May 02, 2023 1:34 pmBecause it would be really poor restoration work to use the wrong type of knobs for this guitar.steverok wrote: Tue May 02, 2023 8:09 am That's a stunner. Not only does it have the correct silver-topped knobs, it has the early (pre-67) DASH indicator type of Kurz Kasch knobs (which changed to a dot sometime in 1967).
"Vintage" style black knobs were never used on round-top "New Style" 360 models. In fact, the silver-top knobs debuted with these guitars in September 1964.
Thanks! And it sounds as great as it looks.
Interesting information here. These are the knobs that came on my former '67 330.collin wrote: Tue May 02, 2023 1:34 pm...it has the early (pre-67) DASH indicator type of Kurz Kasch knobs (which changed to a dot sometime in 1967).
In checking out the close up picture of those knobs, it looks like the bass volume and tone knobs have the dash and the treble volume and tone knobs have the dots. I didn’t notice any difference at first, but had to zoom in to tell. Cool.jps wrote: Tue May 02, 2023 9:11 pmInteresting information here. Perfectly normal for 1967 and even early 1968, the change was transitioned in (starting in 1967), not an abrupt change.jps wrote: Tue May 02, 2023 9:11 pmInteresting information here.
