I'm on the lookout for my old 4001S and a 4001 that belonged to a good friend. Both are in the registry. I would be interested in purchasing them if the current owners are interested in having that discussion.
My 1982 jetglo 4001S (VE1277) was my first good bass. I sold it on Ebay maybe 20 years ago. I would be interested in buying it back if possible.
My friends 1979 Azureglo 4001 (SD2188) was the first Rickenbacker I saw in person, before I got mine. It was stolen in Michigan sometime around 2000 and looks like it was sold in Lansing in 2015. The primary distinguishing characteristic is that the bridge has been replaced and some routing under the replacement bridge has been filled in. He is now deceased, so it would be a nice memory to have. No questions will be asked about where or how it was obtained.
I'm not under any illusions that a forum post like this will necessarily lead to anything, but if either of the current owners happens to read this and are inclined to reach out, feel free to PM me.

Re: Looking for two old friends
Both of these are listed as "CI" which means collected item. This means someone added them from information they found online, usually ebay or some other website.
This means that it is very unlikely that the owner is a member of this forum, so almost no chance of them reading this post.
Anyway, good luck, I hope you are able to track them down.

I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
Re: Looking for two old friends
Thank you, I didn't realize that.
I suppose there's a remote chance that if anyone ever gets curious and Googles the serial numbers, they may hit on this thread.
Meantime, I will keep an eye on Ebay and Reverb.
