If possible, can someone please tell me the overall length and width of the XC?

Nice recordings showing what I really love about the sound of that bass. Initially I saw the trapeze tailpiece as a flimsy string attachment method (well… it is) but it’s a key element into the way the strings resonates. I’m not sure you’d get the same overtones with the classic but heavier R tailpiece.

The 4005XC has become my main bass.

You probably should inquire with Pickguardian whether they have a template for this model. Being that is a recent one, they might not have one, but you could trace a template yourself and send it to them, or send yours in for them to make one.

My guess is that this part is identical to what RIC already uses on a guitar. I'm just not sure which one.

I compared the upper pickguard from my 4005XC with the one on my 330/12.

Basically the same shape. Screw holes in the same place. A 330 pickguard would fit on the 4005XC, though there would be more space between the guard and the pickups. The 4005XC guard would not fit on a 330. Not mine, anyway. Mine is the 24 fret version, so the pickups are closer together than they are on the 21 fret version.

Fun gig on Monday. Monday, you ask? Yup. Band from Antwerp, Belgium, booked a gig on Monday afternoon over on the coast, but didn't have an opening act, so we weaseled our way in. Good thing we did, too, as the crowd consisted almost entirely of friends and family of our band.

But why post this in this thread? Well, first, because the 4005XC is the bass I play in this band. But also, I had some trouble.

I bought a new wireless last week. Decided to use it at the gig. Plugged it in, and... the low notes were distorted. Switched to my old reliable Shure wireless: same thing. Bypassed everything and ran a cord straight into the amp: still there.

Okay, so I knew it had to be the bass. Couldn't be the amp, because it was also coming out of the PA that way. Looked at the bridge, and saw that it was cocked. This bass has a floating bridge; the only thing holding it down and onto the bass is string tension. Somehow it got tipped, and the E string was vibrating against something. I tipped it back into place, and all was good. I'll have to keep an eye on that in the future.

My bridge moved when I was restringing my 4005V without me noticing. Luckily, I caught it before any damage was done to the finish. I mention the bridge and bridge plate in the video, as it applies to the original 4005, the XC & V models. It's just one of those things that owners need to be aware of, as we're all used to standard solid-body basses with fixed bridges that don't pose any such concern.
