Hello All,
I've been struggling with the cruddy tuners on my 1993plus for a few years. Not only is it difficult to get them to stay in pitch, but they are corroding. Rickenbacker service says that I'll need to drill / dowel the guitar...which I'd rather not do for obvious reasons. I Have 2 questions:
1) I want to confirm that it is possible to use the OLD screws with the NEW tuners, so that I don't have to drill / dowel
2) I'm wondering if there are any 3rd party tuners that will fit the existing tuner holes, even if it requires drilling new screw holes.
Thanks!

Re: 1993plus / 12 Tuner replacement
Greetings. I replaced all 12 tuners on my 2021 1993+ with a set of warranty replacements provided by Rickenbacker. They dropped right I and I used all of the same original screws and ferrules that were already on the guitar. Rickenbacker provided new screws and ferrules with the replacement tuners, but I did not need them. This is assuming you are using new tuners from Rickenbacker. If you plan on using a different type of tuner, then you might have to improvise if the holes do not line up with different tuners.

Re: 1993plus / 12 Tuner replacement
Thanks. I’m currently wrestling with them on the warranty issue. They somehow “lost” my warranty registration card. So now I’m trying to get a copy of a receipt from a shop I bought the guitar from 4 years ago.

Good luck! I had to do the same, even though I sent in the registration card, I still had to email them a copy of the receipt, which I still had fortunately, along with pictures of the instrument and the jack plate. It took a little time, but it was worth it in the long run. It is now a great 12 string. Best of luck in your efforts!philbert_s wrote: Mon Sep 23, 2024 2:30 pm Thanks.
