OG RM 1999 players

Post by bassdroid »

Having recently aquired one of these, I thought it could be fun to start a photo collage of the original players of this particular model. Looking for as many unique photos as we can find, as long as they include both the player and their RM1999.

I'll kick it off with these and hopefully more pics will turn up.

Not technically an RM1999 since it was received directly from Rickenbacker, but close enough.

You’ve recently acquired one? Lucky man! I’ve only played one, about maybe 5 or so years ago, but sadly it was outside my then-budget at £6k. Now, it would be an absolute bargain at that price!

Yes, I was blessed to aquire a restored one (PW refin), which was indeed a costly endeavor. No luck was involved. I'm just an average person with a very limited range of interests and a lot of determination. :D

Thanks! It is truly a unique instrument and much different from any other Rickenbacker bass I have owned or played in the past.

Hoping for a few more pictures to turn up... Ideally early photos showing stock, pre modded instruments. Certainly there are a lot of photos available of Chris Squire and Paul McCartney post mod. Far more interesting to see the earlier photos. Hoping for lots of fireglo

Original. Or for the kids these days, it's "original gangster".

I tried that Blackfoot Sue RM in Denmark St in 1976. They wanted about four hundred quid for it and it was falling to pieces!
