Rickenbacker 650 Baritone conversion

Post by Yuanjia »

Will the 650 bridge have enough room to intonate the bottom string at .68 gauge to Ab?

I don't mind filing the nut, and don't mind widening the bridge holes to fit the strings through.

As long as the bridge will intonate that far back and the roller saddle will be wide enough to accomodate that girth ;)

I retract my question! I was groggy when I typed it. Of course I know what a 650 is. Derp.

I expect that will be problematic, trying to intonate a .068. IIRC there is not a lot of room to push those saddles back really far. Some folks have had Larry Davis (Davis Guitar Works) in Florida convert Ricks to baritone with excellent results.

I once got really heavy strings on a 610 and had it tuned B to B. I couldn't speak for the intonation.
