Howdy,
A 1/8"ish diameter piece of finish popped off of my fretboard! It wasn't hit, it just decided to live somewhere else. I noticed it was missing one day.
I want to DIY fix it as well as I can. I have heard that a few drops of CA glue and micromesh sanding should work, but the repair will be visible. In my book, if it's visible, it ain't fixed.
Does anyone know what type of thick finish material is used, or have any helpful tips?
Thanks,
Mike

It would be useful if you could post a picture of the chip in question.
Also, you might want to cross-post this in the Vibrola section, as it's a technical issue.

Ideally, a little piece of chechen that matches color, meticulously cut and sanded to fit.

I just found out from the Rickenbacker tech that the finish is polyurethane. Thanks all.

Nope, chechen, aka Caribbean rosewood
