Can anyone explain this???

Post by rickfan60 »

Look at the final selling price of this bass and tell me it makes sense. I see a yellowed, checked, dinged up white 4001. Apparently the buyer saw something else.

I think it was the extra bonus stickers on the front of the case. It was a nice bass though, white is cool, even when it's yellow, haha!
I myself woundn't have paid that much for it though.

Cool. This means that my own Mucasglo with 14,000 finish checks is becoming more valuable!

I agree with Jim. I think the buyer almost certainly thought he was buying a Tuxedo. I almost made the same mistake and was about to bid on it.
Buy it before someone else does.

I've said it before....it's very hard to put a price on "mojo"....

I bet that buyer had one JUST LIKE it when he was a teen....he saw this and just HAD to have it....OR he actually DID own this bass at one time and HAD to have it...

Pure speculation, of course.... Image

You know, that could be mine; the yellowed-white on white '75 4001 I bought for just a hair over $1K in May.

What can I say? I wanted a mid 70's white on white, I knew there weren't that many around, one came up, I bought it for $5 over what I told myself my max bid was.

Yeah, it's mojo.
Listen to that sustain!

I find it hard to believe that someone who actually knows Rics enough to know what a Tuxedo is would mistake this for one.

I think everyone is missing the other possibility as to why the final price was so high.....the buyer is an idiot Image

I think chris may also have something there, I will pay more to recoup things I've had during my childhood or younger years. Look what people pay for 57 Chevies now mostly because they had them when they were young or it reminds them of those years.

You'd never mistake a Fireglo for a Tuxedo, just one more reason to Love Fireglo .... Image
