Was there ever a 4004Cii 8 string

Post by robcollins »

I was looking at a Rickenbacker brochure the the other day and I noticed next to the 4004cii /5 cheyenne it says also available in 8 string.

The brochure was shipped with one of my 4003's i bought last July so I don't think it's an old brochure.

Is it a mis-print?

the current brochure downloadable from the Rickenbacker website does'nt mention it , so I think it must be an error.

There has not been a CII/8 yet. When the 4003s/5 and s/8 were discontinued, the plan was to continue those models under the 4004 line, as evidenced both by the brochures and the Ric website of the time. It took years to get the CII/5 launched, so perhaps the 8 is still in the plan somewhere, but its priority has definitely been downgraded.

It's no error. I just bought a 4003 and the brochure that came with it clearly says under the 4004Cii/5 description that it's also available in an 8 string version.

Since I received my 4003s8 I have grown more and more fond of it and would certainly consider a 4004CII version if it ever sees the light of day...

I was hoping the 4004-8 CII may have made its introduction at the NAMM show this year.

I really think this model would make an incredible 8-string. Im sure most CII owners will agree.

Earlier last year in a post I cant remember, John Hall himself, when refering to the 4004, made the comment "We may have some other ideas for this model"

Hopefully its on the back burner at RIC.

Jeff has pretty much hit the nail on the head. The prototype is in the works but the CII/5's we have on order definitely take priority...
