I prefer the white plastic and chrome as well, Shaun. I've seen a few white plastic and chrome deluxe models, but this is the only 4003S I've ever seen in Ruby.

Its probably my best-playing and best-sounding Rick. And the lack of binding makes it more comfy to play than my deluxe 4001s.

This is one of my favorite colors and I know that it is hard to find. I am trading for 2...

Hey Jaymi, The pix of the 4001, that Jeff put on looks exactly the same color of my 4000. The difference is pickguard is black, and the truss rod cover is the old style black plexi. Is it possible this is a custom color guitar for that year? I also noticed if you go to the Rickenbacker site and look at the catalogs from that year they have ruby as a custom color is that correct.

That is VERY possible. There are things that have been done and come out with very little being told....That's what makes this fun Image

I am waiting for pix of that bass my friend...

Just watched the whole of the Jam DVD today....great looking (and sounding) bass. Definitely one for the future, fingers crossed. Good luck with the basses Jaymi, and lovely bass Jeff!
