Refinishing opinions needed

Great idea Gary. I had John Bolin, who makes Bolin guitars refinish my 4001. He replaced the frets and did a great clearcoat on the body and neck.

Now's definitely the time for a fret job if you're gonna do one. Pull the frets and to the refin, including the fingerboard first. This will give a dead level glossy look to the fingerboard that you will not believe without the clear running right up and over the frets having to be "dressed" off. It's not the way RIC does it but I like it much better on the basses I've done.
Steve, in its original finish that would almost be my dream Rick (give it crushed pearl and walnut wings/no skunk - yes I know you wouldn't see them but that's not the point
- and you're there). What a shame! I vote for a refinish in its original colour. Then you can sell it to me for an enormous profit!

Went and had a meeting with the luthier today - looks like Azureglo is a go! Plenty of the original finish in the electronics cavity for a colour match. Needs a little prep-work of course, but nothing major. No timeline on the project yet, but I'll post updates as I get them. Thanks for everyone's input!
