That's a good idea John, because in truth, the three hi-gains didn't suit my amp setting, meaning that I couldn't comfortably change gtrs in a live situation. My other guitarist is buying it from me & it sounds truly awesome through his rig (the same as mine), as his is set up for solid bodies & the eq suits the extra bass response that the extra p/up gives. Three toasters sound great on mine, but not good on his. I do an incredible amount of studio work, but I do like all my gtrs to sound good on my live amp setting, without having to worry about it. It really does rock though & I was going to fit a 5 way switch so that I could have the standard 330 option giving me the best of all worlds. I don't really want to sell it but my guitarist really wants it (& it isn't one of my main gtrs)& so I will probably in the future either get a 340 or convert another 330, just to have it in the arsenal.

Does the extra bass overwhelm the treble?

Not really John, it's more a question of an EQ tweak. It still sounds totaly Rickenbacker. My other guitarist used a Gibson SG, but when he used my 330 (340), my bassist commented that he could hear him properly for the first time, so it still has that 'cut'. My point is that the EQ required would probably be similar to if you were using humbuckers, as opposed to your normal two p/up Ric EQ. You are then rewarded with a truly stunning Ric sound.

Thanks Tony, I always wondered what the difference the extra Pup made and your explanation was the first helpful one I've had!
