The conversion begins.....

Post by incubus2432 »

I spent yesterday swapping out the pesky white plastics for something more fitting. I had a cracked white pickguard on my MG 4003 so I glued/sanded/painted it black along with my white TRC. I used a Krylon black paint that is advertised to have excellent bond with plastics. I then carefully/tediously painted the Ric logo on the TRC with silver leaf paint (I planned to silver leaf it but this was an easy alternative and I can't imagine the leaf looking any better so I'll keep it as is). I'm actually debating about keeping the hardware chrome now that I see it together. I initially used some black screws that I had for the project but switched to the chrome since it looks better with the chrome hardware still in place. I'll have to see how the pickguard wears.....I may not have to buy a black one afterall if this holds up to the wear and tear.

....I have some close-ups of the TRC and the body but, of course, can't get them small enough to fit Image

Looks great Brian, I would leave the chrome hardware on it. it just has more character that way.

Jaymi....sorry, I guess I should have known by the DO IT !

Jared....thanks for the pic shrinkage....mostly when I try to resize something the pic itself gets smaller but the digital size of it remains unchanged. I don't know why it works sometimes and sometimes not. Computers aren't my strong suit.

Jeffrey/Martin thanks for the kind words and I am leaning towards leaving the hardware chrome rather than black.

Jaymi-

If I played my bass no one would stick around to do the pixs.

Unless I get a remote...

Nice job, Brian. I'm thinking of doing a reverse with my white 8 (changing the black plastic to white, etc.). Just toying with the idea for now, though.

BTW - what's the story on the t-shirt? Image Seems like a Dennis Hopper quote (anyone who has seen Blue Velvet - one of my favourite movies - will know what I mean). Image
